Winter Reading Program 2019
Winter Library Reading Program about to Launch!
The Keokuk Public Library will be hosting its tenth annual Winter Reading Program, starting on Monday, January 21 and running through Friday, March 1, to encourage citizens to read more this winter. This year’s theme is “Over the Moon for Books” and there will be more incentives to read than ever before!
Ages 2 and up must register at the Front Desk for either the child (2-12), teen (13-17), or adult program (18+), starting Monday, January 21. This year the library is having its first-ever Winter Reading Program for children.
You can read anything for this program – books, e-books, newspapers, magazines, blogs, instruction manuals, and more. Adults and teens count the minutes they read, and mark their progress in a program booklet. For every hour (up to 10) spent on their reading journey, those participants will earn a Blast-Off prize. Program finishers will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing!
Blast-off prizes for adults and teens include a magnet, a pencil, a pen, crayons and a Keokuk photo coloring book, a stress ball, a chocolate bar, a magnifying bookmark, a car visor ice scraper, a keychain/light/compass/whistle, a book light, buttons, a book tote, and other donations from our sponsors. The Grand Prize for both teens and adults is a Kindle Fire HD tablet.
Children 2-12 will earn a prize drawing entry form every time they check out during the six-week program (once per day) and show their “Galaxy Card.” Names will be drawn for prize baskets in two age categories – 2-5 and 6-12.
Prize drawings will be held on March 2nd at 9:00 am. For more information, please contact the library at (319) 524-1483, or visit www.keokuklibrary.org.
